To be clear, our goal is to maintain the Bugtraq mailing list and archive alone. We will be implementing some changes and improvements so that it can regain its status as the valuable asset that many of us have to come enjoy. As such, there may be a few brief interruptions. In the meantime, we are working to stabilize the platform and return it to healthy operations. As a result, we posted to the list less than 48 hours later that it would continue to live. After all, many of us also grew up in this industry by subscribing to Bugtraq.Īfter some discussion, and with the support of Accenture Security leadership, the decision was made to continue to maintain and host Bugtraq as an asset to the community. Our Cyber Defense leadership team immediately convened and tried to see if the decision could be reversed. When this was announced on the Bugtraq list, many of us within Accenture Security were just as surprised as you were. Since these assets were not the main focus of that acquisition, the decision was initially made to shut them down. As part of our acquisition of Symantec CSS in April 2020, we acquired the assets of which included the Bugtraq mailing list.
